Why is my head so itchy?

I have been using the Head and Shoulders shampoo for about a year and I had dandruff since I was 8. I just got a haircut last week so it's short, but my head is really itchy after a few hours from a shower. I don't use hot water or have lice. If I do, how do I know? Also, I take showers everyday.
