Good eyeliner for monolids?

I've used eyeliner only a few times and I am not so good at applying it. It's purple and it's supposed to bring out the color of my eyes but I want black. Anyway I have monolids and I want a good (cheap) brand of black pencil eyeliner for BEGINNERS. I just want a natural look so should I buy some liquid liner as well? I'm don't really know what I'm doing so any help would be appreciated haha thanks
